Fast 5 Stories in Beauty This Week

1 - Selena Gomez Might be Selling Rare Beauty

Selena Gomez is considering selling her brand to investors at a lofty price tag of $2B. Her team has decided not to comment besides to say she plans to stay involved in her company after the sale. This is probably the biggest celebrity beauty brand out there right now which grew very quickly due to the amazing products. I personally use the Rare Beauty Liquid Blushes all the time in my professional kit. She also just launched her new Luminous Powder Blushes which are basically a highlighter + blush duo.

My personal take… you GO GIRL, get that paycheck. Selena has built an amazing brand, and she should be able reap the benefits of a major sale if she chooses. HOWEVER, I really hope this do not interfere with the product quality and innovation. Hoping the current team stays in place even if there is a new owner.

Side Note* there are A LOT of brands that will potentially be moving owners soon (Glossier and Merit are up for sale too). It will be interesting to see which brands survive or thrive over the new few years.

2 - Mob Wife Aesthetic. What is it? Is it here to stay?

I’m definitely not a religious follower of trends because let’s be honest they go in and out way too fast. However, I’ve been intrigued by this “mob wife” aesthetic and curious in general wth it means. To me it means … minimal makeup but BOLDER. No longer “quiet luxury” but “LOUD LUXURY”. When it comes to fashion, we think chunky jewelry, animal prints, bold colors, etc.. When it comes to makeup it’s not about making your routine any more complicated, just having more fun with statement colors/textures/etc. This superrrrr simple eye look is one way of doing that.

3 - Perfume is the New Accessory

To be totally honest, I have never fallen into the perfume world. Growing up my mom was super sensitive to smells and never wore perfume, so I stayed away from them as well. However, after being a long time follower of @jaclynhill and @KathleenLights and seeing the recent boom in the Fragancetok community on TikTok, I’ve become intrigued.

Perfume has become the best accessory to finish any outfit or look. Below are the top 10 best selling perfumes in the United States.

  1. Chanel No. 5 by Chanel

  2. Coco Mademoiselle by Chanel

  3. Flowerbomb by Viktor & Rolf (my wedding scent!)

  4. Light Blue by Dolce & Gabbana

  5. Black Opium by Yves Saint Laurent

  6. Daisy by Marc Jacobs

  7. La Vie Est Belle by Lancôme

  8. Jimmy Choo by Jimmy Choo

  9. J'adore by Dior

  10. Gucci Bloom by Gucci

4 - My Favorite Glam of the Week

Makeup on Lexi Young (bachelor contestant and Atlanta native) by Lina Mourey. She used a black inglot eyeliner to rim the outlines of her eyes with a little cat eye flick of a wing, and it was pure magic. I always keep this gel eyeliner in my kit because the extremely deep pigment and an extremely long-lasting and anti-smudging formula. She kept the rest of the eye look super simple with minimal eyeshadows and no shimmers. This really made Lexi’s blue eyes pop without being an extremely dramatic eye.

Product callout* Lina used the Nars Skin Reflecting Foundation. I’ve noticed so many MUA’s carry this product in their kit… might have to give it a go!
